Newsletter Editor
Showcase your publishing skills as Green Door's newsletter editor. Duties include
collecting and sorting Recipes, Healthy, and Earth Friendly articles with a focus on
Healthy Eating. Access to a computer with either Windows XP or Vista and email is a
must, and experience with MS Publisher is preferable. The newsletter is published
once a week on Fridays but can be prepared throughout week according to your
schedule.
Green Door Website
Web site manager to update our website as needed, and keep it's visibility
high on the Internet. HTML not required, but web site and publishing
experience preferred.
Internet Networking
We would like to have an Internet presence on networking sites like Face
book, Twitter, Google, Yahoo and other online directories. If you're into
"blogging" and would like to help set up our page, please let us know.
Special Events
We have a number of special events throughout the year, on weekends although
occasionally on a week day/evening, and are always looking for members to help out
at our Green Door booth. This would entail talking to people about the weekly
baskets and helping to sign up new members.
Veggie Distribution
This is a healthy workout for mind and body. Every Friday morning at the downtown
Sarasota location, a few Green Door members help to unload, divide and distribute
the food between the members baskets.
This involves lifting, bending and stretching, and lots of counting. We start fairly
early to get the baskets ready for everyone and so as not to take up your whole day.
Greeters
Like interacting with people? Each location has a Green Door Greeter to help
members sign in, get their correct basket, answer questions, and help members
manage their accounts. This would be on Fridays and the times are the same as the
pick-up time at each location.
Volunteer Coordinator
With all these volunteers, it would be helpful to have a Volunteer Coordinator to
ensure that the needs of the organisation and the members are covered. You would
need access to a computer, email and phone; be organised and people oriented.
* Volunteer rewards may vary on a case by case basis, but generally if you volunteer for
less than 4 hours you receive a complimentary small fruit & veggie basket, more than 4
hours you receive a complimentary large fruit & veggie basket.
